Topaz Smith

Hello! I am Topaz Smith
Intern

Hello, my name is Topaz Smith, and I am a current graduate student at Walden University currently working towards a Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. I was raised in Mount Vernon, New York, and graduated from Queens College with my bachelor’s in psychology. I am a wife and a mother who enjoys spending time with my family. My interests outside the mental health field profession include reading, creating curriculum activity workbooks for my daughter, and dancing.

I have taken an interest in the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Person Center Theory approach when working with clients. While using unconditional positive regard I hope to provide a judgment-free space where clients can explore, grow, learn, and improve self-awareness about their mental health. I have experience working with gifted individuals, domestic violence victims, and addiction. This experience has helped cultivate a passion and need to help people with their life challenges. I aspire to have my private practice one day where we will specialize in maternal mental health.

With this opportunity at Creative Touch Counseling under Mrs. Toson’s supervision, I will have the ability to explore different techniques and practices that will help create social change.

Topaz is under the direct supervision of Chanel Toson, LPC 010662.
